'1936' night club

The nightclub ‘1936’ was commissioned for the then new Cairns Casino Resort. To contrast with the sand, sea and palms of the Barrier Reef, the nightclub was to be a complete transition to the glitzy art deco interiors/exteriors of 1930’s New York. Borrowing from skills learnt in film design, all surfaces and treatments for this club were faithfully recreated including steam from iron floor gratings, bronze bas-reliefs and statues and a horizon view over Manhattan built in scale 3D.
