durack farmhouse – ‘back of burke’

This simulated mud walled farmhouse was conceived for the TV Miniseries – Kings in Grass Castles - story of the Durack family in the late 1800’s. The historical location was the Channel Country of Queensland, but filming took place at a billabong near Bourke where the ground was the incorrect colour. This necessitated the trucking in of many tons of red dirt to recreate the correct environment.
